shoesColor me captivating in this handmade one-of-a-kind beauty from Poppy Seeds n Beads, located inside market@315. Owner/artist Sheri Johnson created this work of art in hammered copper, leather, carnelian beads, Swarovski crystals and German vintage glass in a multitude of colors.

This amazing piece should be worn with little or no other jewelry, making it the perfect focal point for an ensemble of most any color. But what color, you ask? Well, read on, darlin'!

Red represents confidence and vitality and is a favorite among extroverts. Choose red when you want increased enthusiasm, interest and energy. Red-hot baby!

Pink means love and beauty. Combining red and white, pink neutralizes disorder. Wear pink when you desire calm and relaxation.

Brown symbolizes Earth, order and convention. People who prefer brown are often seen as orderly and conventional. A mixture of many colors, when used sparingly brown can be stabilizing. Too much, though, gives off a dull effect. Go for brown when you want a solid wholesome feeling and a connection with nature. Avoid too much though, or else you'll blend into the background!

Orange equals enduring vitality. Orange lovers are usually thoughtful and sincere. Orange’s powerful color is associated with the warmth of the sun. Try orange to show your creativity, to spice up your day or to become more involved in a project.

Gold represents wealth and prosperity. Those who favor gold are optimistic and often successful. Put some gold on when you want to feel successful and feel an increased sense of personal power.

Yellow brings joy and happiness. Think of a bright sunny day! It’s favored by people of high intellect and who are full of creative energy. C'mon get happy and sport yellow when you wish for clarity in decision-making and to avoid burnout, panic, exhaustion and nervousness.

Green is the symbol of life and well-being. Green is a restful color and the safest choice when you are unsure what color to go with. Try green for balance, a sense of order or if you feel a need for positive change and growth.

Blue is for spirituality and peace. The ancient Egyptians used lapis to represent heaven. Go with this coolest color if you prefer things to be calm and you desire relaxation, solitude and peace.

Purple signifies royalty, good judgement and mystery. Combining the dynamic energy of warm red and the calming of cool blue, purple is believed to be the ideal color. Use it to re-balance and to remove obstructing thoughts.

Indigo reveals intuition and self-mastery. It’s a good color for helping to focus on personal issues, solitude and inner communication.

White symbolizes purity – hence the tradition of the white bridal gown. It goes well with all other colors. Try it when you want to make great developments in any direction.

Black is a true classic. Oddly enough, it can show either stability or mystery. Black is one of my absolute favorites. Fashion wise, it is slimming to the figure and quite elegant.

Gray shows maturity and neutrality. A true neutral color, it can be pretty boring when worn on its own. However, it offers a cooling effect when used with more vibrant colors. Use it to show compliance, neutrality or to reduce the intensity of another color.

laura kSo there you have it! Choose wisely and let your true colors show according to your own personality and the attitude you wish to exude.

As for myself, I'm headed to San Diego for the weekend, and a little shopping expedition is in order before I go. I'm thinking black pants with a red-hot halter and heels. Oh, and those great golden beaded earrings I saw at Poppyseeds n Beads!

Ciao!
