Have you seen Kenfunky Tees yet? These fun T-shirts from “the statewide statepride T-shirt company” showcase (with tongue firmly in cheek) all that is great about our lovely state. The company is the brainchild of Paducah’s own Jay Chuppe, an extremely talented freelance illustrator and cartoonist who has worked in the screenprinting industry for the past 15 years. (See sidebar, right.)
Kenfunky Tees — which have that super cool vintage/distressed look — are great any time of year. But for those not into going all out for Halloween — or who have multiple parties to attend and don’t want to repeat the same look — how about an easy, fun pseudo-costume that shows your state pride and your sense of humor?
Check it out:
Kentucky: Home of Beautiful Horses and Fast Women: Simply add cowboy hat, boots and a piece of straw to chew on. Wooden stick horse optional.
Kentucky Knows How to Party: Beer helmet. (Duh!)
Gettin’ Lucky in Kentucky: Guys, pile on multiple gold chains, slick back your hair and use lots of axe body spray. (Stick the can in your back pocket for extra points). Throughout the night, alternate between reciting cheesy pick up lines and spritzing your mouth with breath freshener.
Paducah, Now More Artsy-Fartsy: Don a beret and carry an artist palette. A few paint smudges on your cheek and paintbrushes in your back pocket complete the look.
Kentucky: Home of Bluegrass: Strap a harmonica around your neck. Spray paint some blades of grass blue and superglue them onto the toes and sides of an old pair of boots.
Kentucky: Birthplace of Bluegrass: Harmonica again, but this time carry a little pot of fake grass (you can get these at Hobby Lobby) spray painted blue and wrapped in a baby blanket. Where to Buy
At $15 apiece or three for $30, these screenprinted Kenfunky Tees make great holiday gifts too! MySpace users can see the full line at myspace.com/kenfunkytees.
They’re also available locally at College Book Station across from the main entrance of WKCTC. And they’ll be featured in the Holiday Gift Showcase, December 8 and 9, at Green Turtle Bay Resort in Grand Rivers. Details to come on ilistpaducah.com!
